Green Team Positions – Oakville/Fort la Reine Museum

The Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie is accepting applications for Green Team positions in Oakville and at the Fort la Reine Museum.

Under the direction of the Utility Operations Supervisor, the Green Team crew members will perform the following duties:

1.                  Mowing grass with front-mount, tractor, and push mower;

2.                  Grass trimming with gasoline powered trimmer;

3.                  Landscaping and grass seeding;

4.                  Pruning small trees.

This position requires experience working with and operating tractors, mowers, and power tools.  The successful candidate will be mechanically inclined, physically capable of performing the work, be able to take direction, and work unsupervised.

Eligibility: This position is funded through the Manitoba Urban/Hometown Green Team.   Applicants must be between ages 15–29.

Position/Hours:         Oakville - 20 hours/week                       Oakville/Fort la Reine Museum - 36 hours/week           

Duration:  June 11, 2018 – August 31, 2018 (approximately)

Wage:  $11.35 per hour

The Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie is looking for a highly motivated, experienced individual for the position of Director of Public Works & Utilities.     

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this position is an integral part of the management team and has responsibility for hands on leadership of all aspects of Public Works services and infrastructure maintenance, including staff management, budgeting, roads, drainage, engineering and water and sewer. The ideal candidate should possess a Professional Engineering Status in the Province of Manitoba and a minimum of 3 years management experience in some related aspect of civil engineering, budget control, and personnel management, within a municipal government setting. Superior leadership, interpersonal and communications skills are essential as the individual in this role is accountable for advising Council and the CAO on priorities with respect to Public Works operations.
